San Diego City Councilmember Donna Frye Endorses John Evans for School Board

 
 

Dear Friends, 

As you know, I take my job to serve you and the City of San Diego very seriously.  We have fought many battles together and will continue to fight for what is best for all our citizens.   Making sure that our children are well educated is important to me personally and also to our City. I am sure that you understand the great need we have for a highly educated work force to sustain our vibrant economy and create good high paying jobs now and in the future.  

I am asking you to join me in supporting Dr. John Lee Evans for School Board in the San Diego Unified School District. Why?  Because, quite frankly, we need him!  We need an individual of Dr. Evans’ professional experience and proven dedication to education to bring unity and success to our schools. 

Here are FOUR things that you should know about Dr. John Lee Evans. 

1.   As a Psychologist, Dr. Evans' highest priority is to educate each student to reach his or her full potential.   And, he has the professional skills to build consensus and unity of purpose on the School Board.  

2. With a lifetime teaching credential and experience from preschool to college, John knows first hand the challenges and rewards of classroom teachers.  He plans to recruit and retain the best and brightest teachers to create vibrant neighborhood schools that inspire high achievement and life-long learning. 

3. John learned valuable lessons in the Peace Corps when he worked with rural school teachers in Honduras. He became a specialist in teaching English Language Learners and learned to manage with limited resources.  Dr. Evans is well prepared for the challenges presented by our diverse student population as well as the reality of the tough budget decisions that lie ahead. 

4.   As a “hands-on” Dad, John volunteered in his three children’s classrooms and on local school committees. He understands the positive impact that parent participation has on student success. As a School Board Trustee, he will actively encourage parents to partner in their children’s education. 

Rarely does someone with Dr. John Evans' qualifications run for School Board. I hope that you will show your support for his commitment to public service with a generous contribution to his campaign.
